IAP Online Course
Everybody can come up with an invention: however, not everybody is aware of how to protect it in order to get the maximum benefit out of it. Sometime, the inventor might think he cannot protect it or that obtaining exclusive rights on it is too expensive and therefore not affordable: and this is not always the case.
On other occasions, the preparation of the patent application and its prosecution are too complex for the inventor wanting to do it by himself. With that regard, an online course on basic knowledge on patents and pro bono legal services has been developed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Having completed the course is a requisite to have access to the Inventor Assistance Program (IAP) and the services provided in its framework. Although the IAP is in its pilot phase, but implemented in only three countries, namely, Colombia, Morocco, and the Philippines, everybody can have access to this course.
Consequently, IFIA Members in these three countries can benefit from the program while Members in other countries can have access to the online course, which provides, in an interactive way, information crucial to protect their own inventions.
