IFIA 33th Virtual Executive Committee Meeting

IFIA 33th Virtual Executive Committee meeting was organized On Feb 04, 2020, to review IFIA launches the project of the Inv. Membership for the inventors and the new membership requests submitted to IFIA Secretariat by  The National Сenter “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” under the auspices of UNESCO which gained the majority of votes and were admitted as IFIA full members.

1- IFIA launches the project of the Inv. Membership for the inventors (Approved)

According to a final enactment from IFIA executive members dated September 11, 2017, in Visakhapatnam-India,

Assignment of title to the inventors. Doctors and Ph.D. holders in all countries use Dr as Title. Engineers in some countries use Eng as a Title. Such a title helps to differentiate qualified and competent professionals from the rest. On the other hand, there is no system that recognizes genuine inventors and innovators, contributing significantly to the knowledge economy and adding to the public stock of knowledge. It was proposed to institutionalize an arrangement whereby the innovators are recognized with the title based on their competency and track record as a member of the Chartered Innovators Council. It was approved to use the title “Inv” for inventors and innovators.

in order to respect of inventors, it was mandated that the INV title be awarded to the inventors alongside IFIA Membership by requirements.
The necessary criteria to obtain Inv title and its membership certificate are as follows:

1. Having a national or international patent
2. Having a national or international invention award
3. Having a recommendation letter from IFIA’s members
4. Pay a one-year Inv’s membership fee for each application

Regarding this issue, at the first step, the IFIA members’ office must be received their inventor’s application from their country then the IFIA official members shall be notified to the IFIA Secretariat by sending their inventors list (at least fifteen requests) and transfer one year each application fee to the IFIA bank account, Then IFIA office shall take the necessary steps to issue an Inv’s membership certificate to qualified inventors, finally, IFIA members dedicate the Inv. certificate (Electronic version) to its inventors.

2- The Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Approved)

The Junior Academy of Sciences (JAS, the Academy) of Ukraine is an educational system that aims at providing the organization and coordination of students’ research activities, creating conditions for their intellectual and creative development, spiritual advance, and vocational self-determination to support the scientific potential growth of the country.

Founded nearly 70 years ago, the Academy passed through several stages of its formation and development. The precondition for the extracurricular education entity to be launched was the organization of the extracurricular education institutions’ scientific student clusters the network of which was formed in the 1920s–1940s. According to the USSR Academy of Sciences’ request to strengthen patronage over the children’s scientific organizations in 1939, there was adopted the Resolution on Patronage over the Kyiv Palace of Pioneers Concerning the Work with Talented Children and Youth, so that the scientific clusters got to work in most Ukrainian large cities during next 10 years. Later on, the separate clusters and sections join the students’ scientific societies. Thus, in 1947 there was launched the Science and Technology Students’ Society on the Kyiv Palace of Pioneers base, with the first students’ theoretical and practical conference held in Kyiv in 1950. The first mass scientific entity was the Junior Academy of Sciences of Crimea named “Iskatel’” (“seeker” in English) and established in 1963, this experience became the basis to finding Junior academies of sciences in different Ukrainian regions in the 1960s-1980s.
