We want to congratulate the Government and inventor of Iraq on joining the Patent Cooperation Treaty, PCT. After many events, webinars, and seminars regarding the significance of membership in the Patent Cooperation Treaty, the Iraqi Government felt the need to become a PCT member to achieve a better result for their inventors and innovators. After many contemplations and deliberations, Iraq finally joined the Patent Cooperation Treaty, PCT, on January 31st.
In order to demonstrate the importance of the Patent Cooperation Treaty to the invention and innovation ecosystem of Iraq, the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations has held many events and workshops for the community. For instance, Mr. Bijan Nasiri Azam, IFIA’s Representative in WIPO and the IP Office Manager of IFIA, had the chance to explain intellectual property and PCT by holding a workshop regarding IP in Baghdad, Iraq. Moreover, he had the opportunity to indicate intellectual property and the Patent Cooperation Treaty to the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq in the same event.
