Compressed Air Hybrid Drive Robot Wins IFIA Medal
Mr. Zhang Weidong from China won IFIA Best Invention Medal for “Electric/Compressed Air Hybrid Drive Robot” during the 10th International Exhibition of Inventions organized from September 13th to 15th 2018 in Foshan, China.
Electric/Compressed Air Hybrid Drive Robot combines compressed air + servomotor hybrid mode as major driver. It has a built-in pneumatic balancing device to automatically balance weight of work pieces based on auto weighing. Also, it is supported with a low power servomotor for precise positioning vertically. The servomotor is 450W and can save 40% electricity.
Compressed air/Electric hybrid and integrated assembly structure greatly saves electric energy. Compare with traditional pinion-and-rack-transmitted robots, pneumatic balancing structure supported by small servomotor for positioning greatly reduces rigid impulses to transmitting mechanism, which greatly increases service life of robots. Compare with non-standard manufacturing and lathe welding processes, the new modular structure improves robot-manufacturing efficiency and greatly shorten its manufacturing cycle. The paintless aluminum surface treatment also reduces pollution to environment.
The compressed air/electric hybrid robots have been used in manufacturing of Q5 of VW and Crossover of Ford. Multinational company Faurecia Ningbo and Changchun Factory have put them into use and will start to use also in its Tianjing and Shanghai Anting Factory.
