Green Technology of Nano Sterilization and Deodorization
Prof. Li Yu, Ph.D, Pearl River Scholar Professor of Guangdong Province, PRC was granted IFIA Best Invention Medal in 2nd World Invention and Innovation Forum for developing one kind of green antibacterial technology based on nano-microwave synergistic antibacterial action. This technology aims to eliminate the odor of the feather, kill harmful bacteria effectively, and inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria during the process of its production, usage and storage. It provides a scientific basis for the breakthrough of the key technology in nano sterilization and deodorization and its application.
In 2007, the group started developing the project on a series of recycled nano-fungicides and new nano-composite antibacterial materials which reflected good antimicrobial activity in the subsequent work. Microwave, as a kind of new technology nowadays, can significantly decrease the dry time and increase the sterilization efficiency compared with UV. Nano-microwave synergistic antibacterial process takes respective advantages to kill harmful bacteria in down.
The optimum conditions of the antibacterial test of nanometer materials cooperating with microwave about the radiation power, radiation time, radiation temperature, mass ratio of the nano material and feather was studied. Moreover, the new process doesn’t need special equipment and conditions with efficient environmental protection and was suitable for application and promotion in feather. The process has an advantage of short sterilization time, low energy consumption, UV protection etc., and the nanometer antibacterial material can be recycled at the same time, which adjusts with the requirement of green industry. The research results were produced in four enterprises, with an output value of 28.03 million, profit taxes of 2,796 thousand and economy cost of 510 thousand in 2013.
The project was honored with the Prize of Science and Technology of Guangdong province PRC. This project has also obtained four Chinese invention patent authorization and another five article awards of Guangdong Provice, PRC.
