IFIA & WIPO GREEN Meeting in WIPO Headquarters
A meeting was held between IFIA and WIPO GREEN on Friday, April 13 in WIPO Headquarters with the participation of IFIA President, Mr. Alireza Rastegar and his team as well as Mr. Minelik Alemu Getahun, Assistant Director General, Mr. Edward Kwakwa, Senior Director, Ms. Marion Dietterich, Director and Ms. Anja von der Ropp, Program Officer.
Initially, Mr. Minelik Alemu Getahun briefly explained the latest changes in WIPO GREEN activities, membership, and statistics highlighting a steady increase in membership.
IFIA team posed some questions regarding the newly-launched Experts Database, a community of professionals from around the world who are able to provide necessary services in the field of business, engineering, finance, IP law, and etc.
It was mentioned that the WIPO GREEN database had over 340 registered experts by the end of the 1 st quarter. IFIA President stated that he would urge IFIA members to join the database and will raise further awareness about this database among IFIA members.
Ms. Anja von der Ropp pointed the Matchmaking project in three focus countries including Cambodia, the Philippines and Indonesia. The objective is to highlight needs in the field of agriculture, clean energy, air and water, and match them with technologies already existent on the WIPO GREEN database and within the wider network.
After IFIA team presented a green technology which saves 80 percent of the energy, Mr. Minelik Alemu Getahun proposed to introduce the technology during the matchmaking event where the green technology seekers would attend.
Finally, IFIA President awarded IFIA’s 50 anniversary logo to Mr. Minelik Alemu Getahun in order to appreciate the bilateral collaboration between IFIA and WIPO GREEN.
