IFIA Signs WIPO GREEN Partnership Agreement
Geneva, 20 April 2016 – Almost concurrent with the Signature Ceremony of Paris Climate Change Agreement and the International Earth Day on 22 April 2016, International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) signed WIPO GREEN Partnership Agreement in order to ratify its global support of this historic event.
WIPO Green Partnership Agreement was endorsed to accelerate the development of Green technologies, combat the climate change and more importantly to join the 196 countries in pledging to decrease the global temperature. However, we keep in mind UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon’s statement that “Our task is not over. In fact, it’s just begun. In 2016, we must move from words to deeds”.
It goes without question that the Governments require contribution from the national institutions to enter this act into force. Therefore, invention associations as the centers bringing together thought-leaders, idea owners, innovators and inventors play a principal part in achieving the desired goal set in the UN climate deal.
IFIA President, Alireza Rastegar, urges the members including invention associations, universities, as well as research and technology transfer centers to provide the necessary assistance to their government by representing innovative green ideas helping to diminish global warming. IFIA President says: “We inherited a green and clean earth from our past generation; it is far from the humanity to leave a polluted and uninhabitable planet behind”.
UN Climate Chief, Christiana Figueres, stated during a talk at TED 2016 last February in Vancouver, “Impossible isn’t a fact; it’s an attitude”. Our members in IFIA have turned the impossible into plausible by their cutting-edge innovations. Once more, they will fulfill their humane and national task of eradicating global warming, economic crisis and poverty.
