Acknowledgment: Congratulations on being one of the pioneer innovators who have obtained the IFIA Innovation Standard certificate (IIS).
Following your inquiry for an IIS certification, the jury board evaluated your application according to the criteria. And after the assessment and examinations, your innovation was granted with IFIA Innovation Standard Grade C.
IFIA hopes that by having this certification, you will take an essential step in the commercialization of your innovation. Also, by entering international markets, you can contribute to the realization of the global slogan: Generating wealth through innovative knowledge.
The Summary of Innovation:
This innovation is a kind of smart diaper that can detect the presence of moisture inside the diaper using a moisture detection sensor and informs the parents or nurses about the appropriate time to change the diaper through the software installed on mobile phones. The wetness detection sensor used in this invention consists of two sheet electrodes made of aluminum, and the electrodes are layered at the top and bottom. The first layer is the electrode located at the top and has many small and large holes. On the other hand, the second layer consists of one or more thin non-conductive fabrics, which are highly permeable and are placed between the two electrodes of the sensor. Lastly, the third layer is the other electrode of the sensor located at the bottom. When urine or fecal matter are placed in diapers, the moisture from them is absorbed by the absorbent layers of the sensor, and the conductive material comes in contact with both electrodes. And if the amount of moisture is above the threshold, a warning signal will be sent to the software installed on the mobile phone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
The advantages of the layer humidity sensor include higher accuracy and less error in moisture detection, as well as the possibility of changing the intensity of moisture absorption by the sensor without the need for fundamental changes in its structure. Moreover, the mentioned software can create audio warnings for changing diapers, will automatically save alarms in order of date and time, categorize them, and display these notices on a chart.
Also, this innovation can monitor body temperature as a side function, which measures through an infrared sensor located outside the diaper. This sensor measures the body temperature by receiving and processing heat waves emitted from the human body and displays it to the user by the mentioned software.
Why is this innovation eligible to receive the IIS certification?
Because of the rapid movement of human life towards technology and the busyness of people in today’s societies, the idea of designing a smart diaper that announces the time of changing diapers to the user can be helpful. The use of smart diapers facilitates the care and maintenance of infants and the elderly. Also, it can prevent the occurrence of complications and problems that arise due to late changes of diapers. These side effects include various skin problems such as fungal diseases and infections.
For this reason, the smart diaper industry is lucrative and is developing at a significant pace. According to MARKETSANDMARKETS, the market value of smart diapers in 2021 is estimated at 646 million dollars and is calculated to reach 1531 million dollars by 2026. To understand the popularity of this technology in different countries, the word “smart diaper” was searched on Google Trends, and based on the results, it was found that in the last six and a half years, this technology has been searched by the general public in America, Canada, India, and England. Therefore, the IFIA Innovation Standard helps this technology and innovation be recognized around the world and used in other parts of the world.
