The Summary of Innovation:
One of the most common chronic diseases in the world is diabetes, which is the result of defects and problems in blood coagulation, hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, regeneration, and repair of the wound healing process. The healing process in chronic wounds is prolonged due to inflammation, poor perfusion, and the presence of necrotic tissue. On the other hand, wound infection is one of the main complications of diabetic patients. Chronic wounds are ideal places for the growth of microorganisms due to their moist, warm, and nutritious environment. However, the use of synthetic drugs is not desirable due to side effects and high costs. In recent years, as an alternative option, traditional and herbal medicines have gained popularity due to their availability, moderate efficacy, no or fewer side effects, and low cost. Based on a plan that was patented in 2023, Andishmandan Pars Pajoohesh Bama tried to provide a smart fibrous nano wound dressing that can be effective in preventing wound infection in addition to increasing the speed of wound healing, and the ease of use has also been considered, so that it is possible to change the wound dressing at home, and the need to refer the medical centers for changing the dress is eliminated or minimized.
This wound dressing is a sterile wound dressing made from a combination of dendrimer and a therapeutic dose of Dracocephalum. The composition of this product helps to regulate the production of MMP in the wound and also has high absorption power, and is completely compatible with body tissues. It can absorb sanies several times as much of its weight, and depending on the patient’s condition and the amount of sanies, it can remain on the wound for up to 10 days.
This wound dressing maintains its integrity in contact with exudates and wound sanies, and the gel resulting from the combination of wound dressing and exudate is integrated and detachable from the wound, and there would not be any damage to the wound. It also prevents leakage of sanies to the edges of the wound, maceration, and getting wet.
Dracocephalum is a rich source of compounds that have high antioxidant effects; it also adjusts the pH in the wound environment and improves the conditions of infected and chronically infected wounds to the natural stages of wound healing.
This wound dressing is a strong antibacterial product that reduces microorganism’s inflammatory effect in the wound, facilitates autolytic debridement, accelerates cell growth, leaves fewer scars, and reduces wound odor.
