The Fourth WIPO GREEN Annual Meeting

The fourth WIPO GREEN annual meeting was organized on November 12, 2016 in Marrakesh, Morocco and the partners were invited to attend the event. Majid El Bouazzaoui, the President of Union of Inventors represented IFIA and proposed the organization of WIPO-IFIA Green Invention Exhibition alongside IFIA events. The meeting was chaired by Mr. El Maliki and Ms. von der Ropp.

The opening was addressed by Jukka Uosukainen, the Director of Climate Technology Center and Network in Copenhagen. She explained the great value ensuing from WIPO GREEN – CTCN partnership and the practical uses of IP in the development and diffusion of sustainable technologies where WIPO provides information and practical insights.

Afterwards Takeshi Ueno, the Ex-President of Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) spoke about the past, the present and the future of WIPO GREEN and the developments it has gone through. He quoted: “WIPO GREEN is a platform for collaboration and it will become more important in light of these developments”.

Afterwards the agenda of previous meeting was adopted and the minutes approved. Ms. Anja von der Ropp presented the report of 2016 highlighting the improvements WIPO GREEN has achieved including the connections made between providers and seekers through the database, the rise in the number of partners, increase in the number and type of technologies available for license, sale or collaboration, the importance of WIPO GREEN’s matchmaking project on water and agriculture in East Africa for facilitating green technology transfer and the partner activities to provide opportunities for the WIPO GREEN Network.
